sq on squares bag
September 25, 2008
I don’t know about you, but I absolutely love my zipper bags. I use these bags for organizing everything from make up to sewing threads and tools. The are great for travel too because all your small bottles of shampoo etc. fit easily which is all you are allowed with airport restrictions. I used a design I like to call square on square collage technique. Simply cut different size squares and sew them down to a fabric base. Continue the theme by stitching each one with the square design working from inside each indiviual square and stitching outward. Look for this and other zipper bags in both of my Etsy shops.. Fill these bags with some sample products such as handmade soaps, lotions and sugar scrubs. I gave these bags filled with these goodies as graduation gifts this year and everyone loved them. Just another gift idea from me to you.
Fyber Post Cards/Flickr

Just heard back from Susan Lenz and I’ m happy about trading for one of her lovely cards http://cyberfyberexhibition.blogspot.com/ All of her cards our beautiful and it was hard to chose just one. They are going fast too. I have really been working hard at getting more of my work out. That was one of my goals this year. I also have several art paper collages that I did last month and they turn out beautifully. Pictures coming soon!
Well, I have open up a flickr acct and I have uploaded lots of photos. Now the next step will be to get them into the widget on my sidebar here. I am still working on trying get some of my images into the body of this blog. I haven’t ask for help yet, because I believe in trying to do things yourself first. That will be my learning curve. I have so much enjoyed working on these fiber post cards. I now have 32 cards and still going. They are so small and I have been creating several a day. I read some where about the fiber post card challenge to create one card a day for a year or something like. Well, for me I kinda just fell into it. I really intended just to work on my journal quilts (one a month) this year. Just as a challenge for myself to work with some new techniques. Another of my goals for this year, to challenge myself to try some new techniques. I am working on February’s quilt now, but that is going to be another post. But, I didn’t know the post cards were so addictive when I started. They are so much fun and small pieces of art are not that much of a time investment. When I locate the info about the post card challenge, I’ll include it here. Pictures coming! Soon!
Rainsstudio Weblog Life in the fabric lane
February 4, 2008
I’m back after some very pressing issues that needed my attention for awhile. So I am ready to start this off my saying I will be writing about my work in textiles and mixed media. My experiments and successes with my work. A little of this and that and bits of other stuff too. So, hang on for a ride in the fabric lane!
I’ll start by jumping right in and writing about my most recent project. I call it project – Memories. I have always had a love affair with antiques and vintage things. So, I have been playing around with some old photographs. My goal is to create a nice selection of photo pillows using the photos, some new and vintage fabrics to create a collage on the pillow top. I’ll post some pictures of this project soon! Also, I have several fabric post cards in progress. I did a few using some vintage fabric and lace to give them an old fashioned Valentine feel. Thinking about doing a few more with some of the old photographs. Maybe! We’ll see.
In the meantime visitors with creative blogs such as collage, mixed media arts, quilting and other textile arts, please leave a link to your site and I will visit. I would like to showcase some of these creative sites with an update and links. I will be doing a complete update in March on Creative blogs that I like visit.
