What a Messss!   Did I say that?

Studio

February 23, 2008

My studio is a mess since I have decide to let things go for now.  I will start packing some of my things.  I’ll pack just the items I won’t need for awhile, I think.  That will tidy things up a bit.  I like the idea of moving to another house and I hated it too.  It gives you a fresh start with decorating and organizing.  But it is definitely work and I would much rather be creating my quilts and stuff.  I need to re-stock my Etsy shop.  I do have some definite plans in the works for some changes.  I will most likely proceed with them sometime this summer.  There will be quite a few nice surprises.  I’ll be updating here later on this spring.

Yes, I’ve got photos now.  However, I am still building this blog site (kind regards, please).  I am also working on several other projects.  I know I’ll need to start my February journal quilt.   The decision to keep these 11″x 7″ was better for me to work with right now.  But I may change the size a little later on. I need to get start on it soon.  I’m not sure if I will just do a new techniques quilt or just a February theme. I could incorporate both I guess.  It was my goal to complete the journal quilt within the first two weeks of each month. Well, my goals, I can fudge a little bit. I’ll start it this weekend. Photos coming!

We had a birthday party for my grandson at a childrens party/game place Sunday. It was so crowd with at least twelve other birthday parties going on at the same time.  There was barely standing room.  Unfortunately, some of the parents got a little irritable and started acting out. We still managed to enjoy his Birthday party and he had a ball.

Sunflower

February 18, 2008

This sunflower is the second picture I did on peltex.  I love sunflowers. They show up in lots of my work.
I usually try to keep these cards around 4″x 6″ in size.  I really enjoyed doing both these cards.  I’m still on track with my goals and I have been creating several fiber post cards a day.  I need to start my journal quilt for this month.  I don’t have any idea what I want to do for this month. Some pictures of my journal quilt projects are coming soon.  Wola!  Pictures you say.  It’s about time!

This is one of the post cards I did on the peltex . I am pleased with the results. Although, it was not that easy at first when I tried the color pencils. The point kept getting caught on the fibers and it was a very light color wash. I knew I wanted it to be more saturated with color. The oil pastels worked beautifully. I want to experiment with the peltex again. Only I want to try some acrylics thinned  out and charcoals.

Fyber Post Cards/Flickr

February 14, 2008

Just heard back from Susan Lenz and I’ m happy about  trading for one of her lovely cards  http://cyberfyberexhibition.blogspot.com/  All of her cards our beautiful and it was hard to chose just one.  They are going fast too.  I have really been working hard at getting more of my work out. That was one of my goals this year.  I also have several  art paper collages that I did last month and they turn out beautifully.  Pictures coming soon!

Well, I have open up a flickr acct and I have uploaded lots of photos.  Now the next step will be to get them into the widget on my sidebar here.  I am still working on trying get some of my images into the body of this blog. I haven’t ask for help yet, because I believe in trying to do things yourself first.  That will be my learning curve. I have  so much enjoyed working on these fiber post cards.  I now have 32 cards and still going.  They are so small and I have been creating several a day.  I read some where about the fiber post card challenge to create one card a day for a year or something like.  Well, for me I kinda just fell into it.  I really intended just to work on my journal quilts (one a month) this year.  Just as a challenge for myself to work with some new techniques.  Another of my goals for this year, to challenge myself  to try some new techniques.  I am working on February’s quilt now, but that is going to be another post.  But, I didn’t know the post cards were so addictive when I started.  They are so much fun and small pieces of art are not that much of a time investment. When I locate the info about the post card challenge, I’ll include it here.  Pictures coming!  Soon!

Since I am new to blogging, I am having some problems with downloading my pictures on this blog.  I hope to have this problem fixed in a couple of days.  These will be pictures of the fiber post cards I am working on.  Please come back and see what I am working on

Fiber Post Cards

February 12, 2008

I did some drawings Sunday night on Peltex and they look pretty nice.  Well, at first I tried color pencils to color the drawing, but I wanted more vibrant colors.  Then I tried some oil pastels and they work perfect.  I only did two of these which will be gifts, maybe.  I have three other fiber post cards in the works which I want to include in the Cyber Fyber Exhibition.  Susan Lenz will trade a post card for each person that sends in a post card for the exhibit.  There are so many beautiful choices, it is hard to decide which one you want.  The ones I did are a patchwork of black and white fabrics with a strip of color added.  I call these post cards ecilpse #1, #2, #3.   Well I hope I will be able to make a trade for one of her lovely cards.  I’m not sure now which one to send to the exhibit yet and I still might send one of the drawings on the peltex. I am going to add stitching to the drawn ones to finish those up.  And will most likely add stitching and beads to the others also.

All the information is there on the cyberfyber blog about this international event, scheduled to take place January 8th, 2009 in Columbia, South Carolina, USA.

I’m back after some very pressing issues that needed my attention for awhile.  So I am ready to start this off my saying I will be writing about my work in textiles and mixed media.  My experiments and successes with my work.  A little of this and that and bits of other stuff too.  So, hang on for a ride in the fabric lane!

I’ll start by jumping right in and writing about my most recent project.  I call it project – Memories.  I have always had a love affair with antiques and vintage things.  So, I have been playing around with some old photographs.  My goal is to create a nice selection of photo pillows using  the photos, some new and vintage fabrics to create a collage on the pillow top.  I’ll post some pictures of this project  soon!  Also, I have several fabric post cards in progress.  I did a few using some vintage fabric and lace to give them an old fashioned Valentine feel.  Thinking about doing a few more with some of the old photographs.  Maybe!  We’ll see.

In the meantime visitors with creative blogs such as collage, mixed media arts, quilting and other textile arts, please leave a link to your site and I will visit.  I would like to showcase some of these creative sites with an update and links. I will be doing a complete update in March on Creative blogs that I like visit.
